Peak Engineering
A downloadable game for Windows
~Submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2024~
Build your own robots from a collection of parts to climb to the top of The Ascent.
- Challenge Mode too
brutally unfunchallenging? Try Sandbox Mode!
Controls + Gameplay:
Move the Camera with Right-Mouse-Button
Drag and Attach parts with Left-Mouse-Button
Rotate parts while Dragging them with the Scroll-Wheel
When hovering over a moving part press any key to assign that key to the highlighted action.
When hovering over a part with multiple actions use the Scroll-Wheel to select which action is being rebound.
When in build mode and not hovering over a part you can raise the vehicle with the Scroll-Wheel
Important Warnings:
Attaching moving parts to other moving parts rapidly becomes unstable. It can be a lot of fun, but do be warned that things get a lot harder to control when they're wobbling everywhere.
If you're having trouble driving I recommend binding each side of your vehicle to a different set of keys. Then you can hold 'Forward' for both sides to move forward, or only for one side to turn. Holding forward on one side and backwards on the other will also let you make sharp turns.
The large wheels are super janky. This is just how they are.
I strongly recommend to never attach them directly to the core. If they disappear you can remove the piece they're attached to and fix any bugs. If they're attached to the core and disappear then you won't be able to attach anything new to that spot 😬

This is an incredible game. I've spent hours building machines, my favorite one from the jam so far!
